Photoblog: a summertime reunion of travel friends in Vermont

One year of teaching in China and two years of Peace Corps in Malawi later, my dear friends from Semester at Sea and I finally reunited. Alexis and I flew to Burlington, Vermont within 20 hours of Garrett’s homecoming, and these are the good times we enjoyed.

When I’m not at work, I don’t want to be continuously documenting my life in high def. That’s why I played with Instagram this time around (click on the images to view in lightbox).

What’s your take on using these easy filters to document your travels?

For the longest time I used to feel like if I wasn’t spending hours changing little details in photoshop then it wasn’t a good photo. Having instagram on my phone, and now lightroom for my professional stuff, has totally changed my mindset. Fast, easy, and fun is a win in my book.

I can’t publish photos for work without at least passing it through Photoshop (self-diagnosed mild OCD, I guess), but for my own purposes, I love getting away with less work but maintaining stylization. Glad to know I’m not alone :)
